A sleepy town that revolves around the ancient harbour, it’s easy to spend a few days in Porto Empedocle just basking in the tranquillity. Beautiful religious monuments line the town centre; the Mother Church and the Carlo V Tower combine a myriad of ethnicities and cultures in their structural design. After a day perusing the sights, the coastline is decorated with beautiful beaches that are ideal for whiling away a few hours under the Mediterranean sun. Even in the height of summer the beaches remain relatively untouched – mass tourism has yet to infiltrate Porto Empedocle which holds much of its appeal. After a day of sunbathing and exploring the shoreline, a few fine quality restaurants are dotted about, serving delicious seafood fresh from the waters.
